COUNTY COMMENCES SOLARIZATION OF MATETE HEALTH FACILITY UNDER FLLoCA PROGRAM

The County Government of Kakamega has officially handed over the site for the solarization of Matete health facility in Chevaywa Ward, Lugari sub-county.
The project, valued at KSh 11 million, is financed under the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) programme and is scheduled for completion within a six-month timeline. The scope of works include installation of a hybrid solar power system featuring 60 solar panels with a combined generating capacity of 34,509 watts. Upon completion, the system is expected to provide the facility with a reliable, clean and cost-effective electricity supply enhancing service delivery while significantly reducing operational energy expenditures.
The Chief Officer for Public Works Mr. Pascal Were underscored the project’s benefit in improving healthcare outcomes and stimulating local economic activity and affirmed that unskilled labour opportunities during the implementation phase would be preferentially extended to women, youth and residents of the surrounding community, in line with the county’s development agenda.
Mr. Were further called upon the contracted firm to adhere strictly to prescribed technical standards and project timelines, emphasizing the county’s expectation of a quality deliverable that would yield lasting benefits for the residents who depend on the facility for essential medical services.
