GOVERNOR BARASA COMMISSIONS MUNYANYA BRIDGE, BOOSTING CONNECTIVITY AND ECONOMIC GROWTH.
H.E. Governor Dr. Fernandes Barasa, FCPA , OGW., today commissioned Munyanya Bridge in Shieywe Ward, Lurambi Sub-County, delivering a lasting solution to a critical connectivity challenge that had hindered movement for years.
The bridge has enhanced mobility, improved access to essential services, supported local economic activity and provided a safer crossing for residents, especially during the rainy season.
Munyanya Bridge is part of more than 30 bridge and box culvert projects undertaken by the County Government across Kakamega County improving the movement of people and goods while enhancing access to markets, schools and health facilities.
Addressing residents during the commissioning, Governor Barasa highlighted ongoing development projects in Lurambi Sub-County, including the tarmacking of the ShivakalaโNyayo Tea Zone Road, construction of the George Abura Bridge, modern ECDE centres at Ebambwa and Eshilibo, expansion of water supply through the Savona Water Project, upgrading of Bukura Health Centre and the resumption of works at Sichirai Market. He also provided updates on the progress of Bukhungu Stadium and Kakamega Level Six Hospital projects being implemented in partnership with the National Government.
The Governor further announced that the County Government will soon roll out social grants for community groups across the county to strengthen livelihoods and promote economic empowerment.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by Shieywe Ward MCA Hon. Moses Musundi, Members of the County Executive Committee led by the CECM for Water, Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change, Ms Penina Mukabane, other county leaders, government officials and residents.
