COUNTY SET FOR CASHLESS REVENUE COLLECTION BY JUNE 2018

KAKAMEGA county Governor H.E. Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya today led a high powered government team to a meeting with representatives of mobile network operator, Safaricom, ahead of digitization of revenue collection in one month’s time.

Governor Oparanya reiterated that the county government was committed to digitization of revenue collection by June, adding that the move would stem revenue leakages. In Kenya today only 10% of county governments have managed to meet their revenue targets. Kakamega is not among them. The Safaricom team presented their e- health and e-revenue solutions that have the capability to optimize revenue collection and service delivery without necessarily relying on Mpesa platform. Other options are online applications and cards.

Also present were the ICT, E-government and Communication CECM Dr. George Lutomia and his Treasury counterpart Mr. Geoffrey Omulayi CO ICT together with their respective COs’.
