DR OPARANYA FORMALLY HANDS OVER TO HIS SUCCESSOR

Former Kakamega County Governor Dr. FCPA Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya led County Departments, the County Public Service Board and County Corporations in officially handing over County operational documents to his successor H.E FCPA Governor Fernandes Barasa in an exercise that took place at the Governor’s boardroom on Friday where the new County boss was taken through operations of the Departments, status of development projects, staff establishment and pending bills among others.

The exercise comes a week after Dr Oparanya handed over instruments of power to Governor Barasa in a colourful ceremony held at Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega.

Dr Oparanya reiterated that he decided to oversee a systematic handing over process to avoid chaos that may have been witnessed elsewhere where outgoing Governors only handed over instruments of power and disappeared. The former Governor thanked staff for ensuring a successful exercise by presenting well prepared reports and documents to the new County CEO noting that he has left the County in stable status with functional structures that will help spur growth.

He advised Governor Barasa to put more emphasis on enhancing revenue collection to ensure Kakamega’s financial stability to fund his development agenda.

H.E Governor Barasa thanked Dr. Oparanya for sparing time to oversee the exercise and extended his gratitude to the officers who have been part of the process. FCPA Barasa noted that he was looking forward to good cooperation from County staff and all stakeholders for effective service delivery to residents.
