EMPOWER YOUTHS FOR A SAFE SOCIETY – RAILA ODINGA

CORD Principal, who is also ODM Party Leader and Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga has urged the government and other stakeholders in education to focus on training more youths on courses that will make them self reliant rather than dependants of few employers. Speaking at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology on Saturday at a Western Youths Conference, Raila challenged youths to train in new technology and help every effort geared towards developing and keeping the wold safe.

Addressing the same meeting, Kakamega County Governor H.E Hon. Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya enumerated the different measures that his government has put in place to empower youths including the recently launched County University Loan, County Polytechnic and College Education Bursaries, Kazi Mashinani and Mikopo Mashinani Programs, The Governor’s Cup among others.

The interactive Youths Conference that was attended by among other leaders, Kakamega County Deputy Governor H.E Prof. Philip Kutima, Hon. MP Raphael Otalo, Hon. MP Silvance Osele (Kabondo Kasipul), Nominated Senators Hon. Elizabeth Ongoro and Hon. Daisy Kanaiza Nyongesa and VC MMUST Prof. Fredrick Otieno saw Raila and Oparanya respond to questions from youths.

The conference resolved to spread the message of a united Kenya that accommodates everyone. The over 4,000 youths agreed to train more in modern technology and use their skills and inventions in building this nation and the whole world in such areas like communication, security, ID’s and Voter Cards Registrations, agriculture, education, health among others.
