The Government has intensified efforts to bring services closer to wananchi through the Last Mile Huduma Mashinani Services initiative, with leaders from the National and County Governments convening at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) in Kakamega.
The engagement follows the President’s nationwide Economic Empowerment Forums and seeks to ensure government programmes are effectively implemented at the grassroots through improved coordination and efficient service delivery.
Representing H.E. Governor FCPA Fernandes Barasa, CECM for Sports and Social Services, CPA Jackline Masicha said Kakamega County remains committed to partnering with the National Government in advancing programmes that improve the livelihoods of residents. She noted that the Last Mile Huduma Mashinani Services initiative complements the County’s development agenda by making government services more accessible and responsive to the needs of wananchi.
Masicha highlighted key development projects achieved through collaboration between the National and County Governments, including the ongoing upgrade of Kakamega County Referral Hospital to a Level Six facility, the installation of a CT Scan machine and Digital X-ray services at Butere Sub-County Hospital, the establishment of routine laboratory services at Navakholo Level 4 Hospital, and the development of the Industrial Park in Likuyani, all aimed at improving healthcare services, promoting industrial growth, and creating economic opportunities for residents.
