GOVERNOR OPARANYA PLEDGES TRANS-FORMATIVE LEADERSHIP FOR KAKAMEGA AS THE LAW ON MATERNAL CHILD HEALTH AND FAMILY PLANNING IS LAUNCHED

Kakamega Governor, His Excellency Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya has promised to lift the county to higher levels of development by 2022 when his tenure will end, with a clear focus on poverty eradication and more investments to improve health services infrastructure.
Speaking during a function to mark the enactment of a law on maternal child health and family planning held at Golf Hotel Kakamega, the Governor told guests and staff of the county that plans were underway to introduce a Micro Financing Bill to pave way to cheap credit to vulnerable citizens particularly those residing in villages. He added that a cancer centre will be established at Kakamega Teaching and Referral Hospital to provide specialized treatment and alleviate the suffering of many victims from the county where the disease appears to be prevalent.
The function was also attended by the Swedish Ambassador to Kenya, Her Excellency Anna Jardfelt and the UNICEF Country Director, Werner Schultink, the partners supporting OparanyaCare Programme, as well as high ranking guests including Vihiga Governor, H.E. Wilberforce Otichilo, Kisumu Deputy Governor, Mathews Owili, Kakamega Deputy Governor, H.E. Hon. Prof Philip Kutima, a representative from Siaya County and several Kakamega County MCAs.
