KAKAMEGA DOCTORS AND COUNTY GOVERNMENT AGREE ON DEAL TO AVERT STRIKE

Kakamega doctors have withdrawn a strike notice dated 8th May, 2019 over several grievances against the County Executive, setting in motion a process to address them.


The doctors through the Kenya Medical Practioners, Pharmacist and Dentist Union, Sande Charo threatened industrial action unless the Executive intervened to resolve their grievances within seven days.

The doctors had complained about lack of promotion among doctors in common cadres among other grievances.

The agreement on the deal was signed today by the Chief Officer Service Delivery, Ambassador James Ochami (chairman) on behalf of the County government while the County Attorney, Moses Sande appended his signature as witness.

Others present earlier were. CECM Health Services, Madam Rachel Okumu, Chief Officer Medical Services, Dr. Beatrice Etemesi, Head of Human Resources, Dr. Muteshi, Strategy and Governance Advisor, Mr. Musa Chibole, Mr. P. Akoto Chairman Western branch Secretary of KMPDU Dr Sande Charo , Dr Githinji , and Dr Wesley from KMPDU headquarters.
