KAKAMEGA STEPS UP PROCESS TO ESTABLISH AN ORGANIC WASTE MANAGEMENT PLANT

Kakamega Deputy Governor H.E Hon. Ayub Savula on Wednesday led residents of Mumias West and Matungu Sub-Counties in a public participation forum convened by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Plannintg through the Kakamega County Investment and Development Agency (KCIDA), to collect residents views towards establishment of an organic Waste Management plant at Matawa, Mumias West Sub-County.

Hon. Savula who represented H.E FCPA Governor Fernandes Barasa at the event noted that if constructed, the plant will spur wealth creation through provision of at least five hundred direct employment opportunities and over two thousand more others indirectly to the locals.

The County Government of Kakamega acquired 48 acres of land and designated it for establishment of an Industrial park and plans to acquire additional 152 acres of land to create enough space for industries and other income generating projects.
