POPULAR KENYAN TV SHOW ‘MARIA’ CREW THRILL FANS IN KAKAMEGA

Fans of the local television drama series ‘Maria’ that airs on Citizen TV, Friday morning got an opportunity to interact with the series characters led by celebrated actress Yasmin Said alias Maria
at Muliro Gardens Kakamega.

On arrival in Kakamega, the team was received by the County Executive Member for Trade, Industrialization and Tourism Mr. Alfred Matianyi who expressed his gratitude to them for visiting the County.

Mr. Matianyi noted that the ultimate objective is to form a partnership with the local stars to market Kakamega County as a potential tourists destination.

“Kakamega has a rich culture and notable tourism sites which if well marketed can effectively boost the economy of this region in addition to creating massive employment opportunities for the youths,” he said.

The Chairman of Lake Victoria Tourism Association (LVTA), the association that sponsored the actors’ visit to Kakamega, Mr. Robinson Anyal applauded Kakamega Governor H.E DR FCPA Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanga for initiating transformative projects especially in the transport sector that have opened up tourism industry to both local and international tourism.

The team planted indigineous tree seedlings in Kakamega forest as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility and thereafter visited the iconic Bukhungu stadium.

The CECM for Lands, Housing, Physical Planning and Urban Areas Hon. Robert Makhanu, County Director of Tourism Mr. Stephen Musee were among other Senior officers in attendance.
