PROPER UTILIZATION OF COVID-19 FUNDS GUARANTEED ~ PROF. KUTIMA

Funds allocated for COVID-19 will be put to no other use other than the intended purpose. This is according to the Chairman of the Donation & Resource Mobilization Committee and Kakamega County deputy governor Prof. Philip Museve Kutima.

“The National Government has already released Kshs. 262 million to Kakamega County as a conditional grant specifically for COVID-19,” Prof. Kutima said Friday afternoon at the County headquarters.

In addition to the grant from the national government, the county government has also set aside Ksh. 105 million in the fight against the novel corona virus.

Prof. Kutima was addressing the media after donating food and non food items to fourteen homes for vulnerable children to cushion them during this Covid-19 pandemic.

The institutions that benefitted from the donations were: Wadadia Group, Pefa Rehema, Mumias Kids Center, Divine Providence, Mukumu Children Home, Tumaini Miles of Smiles abf Springs of Life.

Others are; Malaika Children Home, MOH Mumias, Kakamega C. Home, Shikhambi Vulnerable Group, Kakamega Approved and Home of Grace.

So far various institutions that have donated to the resource mobilization committee are Sigalagala National Polytechnic, Kenya National Chambers of Commerce and Industry-Kakamega chapter, Evidence Action, One Acre Fund, Rotary Club, Living Goods, Khetia Drapers, IG Sacco and KCB Kakamega Branch.

The Deputy Governor revealed that the county is in the process of purchasing 5,000 bags of maize to be distributed to the most affected homes in the county.

Prof. Kutima was accompanied by Mr Robert Makhanu, CECM for Sports, Youth and Social Services, Mr Robert Sumbi, chief of staff among other county officials.
