LREB CHAIR DRUMS ITS SUPPORT AS COUNTY ASSEMBLY LEADERS SCRUTINIZE KEY DOCUMENTS

LAKE Region Economic Block (LREB) Chairnan H.E. Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has urged the member County Assemblies to support the nascent grouping in order to live up to its objectives of improving livelihoods in the region.

Governor Oparanya said the economic bloc was not anything new as many others have been established in Africa, Europe and Asia purely for economic reasons. He emphasized the need for leaders to recognize the rich and diverse opportunities and natural resources available in the region which must only be beneficial to residents through planning, harnessing of synergies and economies of scale. The sentiments were echoed by his Kisii counterpart, H.E. James Ongwae who said there was strength in numbers and the region is alive to the need for leaders to seriously address challenges such as resourcing and underdevelopment.

The two were speaking today during the ongoing Lake Region Economic Block assembly caucus forum in Kisumu county.
